Newport is a great place to travel with your best furry friend. There are plenty of parks, trails, beaches, restaurants and so much more! Below are a few of our suggestions to help you plan your dog friendly visit. Please leash your dog at all times.
Parks & Walking Paths
Wear walking shoes and leash your pup for this 3.5 mile walk along the ocean with glimpses of Newport's Gilded Age mansions along the way. The Cliff Walk is a must-do and must-see when visiting The Classic Coast for the first time! There are some more challenging parts of the path, so check out this guide to see if the entire walk is right for you.
After cruising down Ocean Drive, park at Brenton Point and walk along the water and in the park for some doggone fun!
Fort Adams Bay Walk is an easy, breezy 2.2 mile loop that's perfect for those looking to stretch their legs and take in those ocean views. Parking is free and public restrooms are provided.
This small but beautiful park on upper Thames Street offers a peaceful hideaway from the rest of the city, with views of Trinity Church and Newport Harbor.
Beaches
Easton's Beach (aka "First Beach")
Dogs are only allowed on Easton's Beach in the off-season, from October 1st until Memorial Day weekend.
Sachuest Beach (aka "Second Beach")
Dogs are welcome all day long at Second Beach in the off-season, from October 1st to April 30th. However, from May 1st until September 30th, leashed dogs are only allowed on the beach from 5:00 AM to 7:45 AM.
Public restrooms, picnic tables and a playground make this a convenient place to take an afternoon break with the family, or enjoy beautiful views of the sailboats on Newport Harbor.

Located on Lower Thames Street, enjoy outdoor seating and people watching with your pooch.
Sit on the patio and fill up on some delicious Mexican cuisine right on Bowen's Wharf.
This popular weekend nightlife spot is just as, if not more, enjoyable during the day. The Landing offers drinks and entertainment, lunch and dinner options, and a dog friendly patio—all with incredible views of Newport Harbor.
Belle's Cafe at Newport Shipyard offers breakfast and lunch, with outdoor dockside dining in the spring, summer and fall months.
This spot in Portsmouth, Rhode Island is just a short drive north of the inn and offers friendly service, a seasonal outdoor patio and even a dog-friendly menu!
